Learn to disable Win 8 Lock screen using Registry

Windows 8 lock screen is a full-screen image that appears when you boot your PC, lock it (WINKEY + L), or resume from sleep.It also contains certain updates like Date,Time ,Unread Mail count etc.

Some people like it whereas others despise it and see it as another barrier (apart from password screen) for logging into windows .

This little trick will tell you how to disable the lock screen using Registry.

Step 1Press windows key + R to bring up the Run window.

Step 2Type "regedit" (Without quotes) and hit "Enter" (Or Click on OK ).

Step 3:Navigate to the below registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization

Step 4:Right-click in the right pane and create a new DWORD value named NoLockScreen.

Step 5:Double-click the NoLockScreen value and enter a value of 1.

Click on "OK" and close the Registry Editor.

The next time you boot your PC, lock it (WINKEY + L), or resume from sleep you will be directly taken to the authentication screen .
